Terry Lee Severinghaus, 79, of Hersey, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, in Niles, Michigan, after a two-year battle with leukemia surrounded by his family. Terry was born on July 27, 1946, in South Haven, Michigan to Gerald and Bertha (Bird) Severinghaus.
Terry was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and everyone who knew him considered him a friend. He cherished his family and each one brought him immense joy and pride. Terry is survived by his son Richard (Sue) Severinghaus, daughter Toni (Tracy) Dykstra and daughter Janette Severinghaus; a cherished grandfather to Jace Severinghaus, Samantha (Brie) Lavoie, and Alexander (Tiaira) Severinghaus.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents. For 31-years, Terry dedicated his hard work and loyalty to the City of South Haven. Where he worked in the street department. His commitment to his community and his strong work ethic left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.
One of Terry's greatest joys was spending time "up north," where he found peace in the outdoors and treasured moments with his family. Whether drinking beer and sharing stories, playing horseshoes, playing yard games, fishing, or the quietness of nature. These times were among his happiest. Terry will be remembered for his love, his laughter, and his kindness he offered to everyone fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, his siblings, and all who carry his memory in their hearts.
In honoring Terry's wishes, no service will be held. His family asks in honoring him to please donate blood and plasma or make donations to the American Red Cross.
