Terry Garland Shires passed away from this earth on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025. He was born November 21, 1957. Other than when Terry was in the US Army, he was a lifelong resident of Mineral Wells.
Terry was in the oilfield business for years before entering into the nursery business. He owned and operated Terry’s Plants for approximately 40 years. He enjoyed scuba diving and dredging for gold in Nome, Alaska.
He married Brenda Harwell Kee on January 23, 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland David Shires and Rose Salena Glover Shires, as well as his sister, Penny Shires Roe.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Brenda Harwell Shires; his daughters, Amanda Shires, Ashley Shires of Franklin, TN, his son, Jerry Shires of Mineral Wells; his grandchildren, Chloe Greensweight, Ella Greensweight, Conway Greensweight and Mercy Isbell all of Franklin, TN; his sister, Salena Young of Mineral Wells; brother, David Shires and wife Sheila of Mineral Wells; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Dobbs Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Mata, Jacob Mata, Colt Shires, Zack Shires, Trey Adkins, Jimmy Shires, Conway Greensweight, and Calab Smith.
