Terry "Tom" Jewel Smith, 69, of Franklin, NC, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Terry was born in Macon County to the late Jewel and Louise Woody Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Wyatt.
He served his country in the US Army for over 20 years. When he was stationed in Italy he played on an Italian football team. He worked for the Macon County Sheriffs department around 14 years before retiring. Terry loved to ride motorcycles and went out West every year to Sturgis for the rally. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; deep sea fishing was one of his favorite types of fishing. He liked watching football, but most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Colton Smith, Casey Charles Smith, Tyler Smith; grandchildren, Gage, Cayden, Evelyn, Rylee, Alana, Amaya, Ayden, Malaki, Demetrius; siblings, Pam Ledford (Steve), Bill Smith, Jackie Beck (Larry), Lytha Hughes (Billy), Juanita Baker, and Linda Henry. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6th, from 10-11am at Macon Funeral Home, with service following at 11am. Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery. American Legion Post #108 and VFW Post #7399 will conduct military rites.
