Terry Wood passed away Tuesday July 25, 2023, in Memphis, TN.
He was a media legend in the Radio, Broadcasting & Marketing industry.
Born in Hollywood, CA his first 13 years were spent in Panama with his parents and sister. At 14 the family returned to the States and settled in Orlando, FL. He began his broadcast career during his last 2 years of high school. He proudly served in the Army and the Ohio National Guard for 16 years. He hosted radio & TV programs on stations in Akron, Chicago, Dayton, Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Memphis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Mattoon and finally back home to his beloved Memphis. He performed in numerous plays early on and interviewed many screen legends including Joan Crawford.
Terry's friends, colleagues, and co- workers had this to say of the media master- "A blessing to work for", "one of a kind", A great jock, a respected manager, Terrific Broadcaster", a friend and mentor to many. Terry was always
Impeccably dressed, sharp as a tack- He always aspired for high standards and excellence. Terry was the true embodiment of a real gentleman.
He is survived by his wife Shantay, his sister Linda Werry and children Tricia Weight, Stephanie Steinman, Claudine Cook, and Heather Silver. Along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His pastimes included gourmet cooking (especially out of the Mafia Cookbook), grilling, Scottish Terriers, golf, and fishing on the Gulf Coast. He had a drive to be the best dressed man the room and get the most he could get out of life, despising the color green and foreign cars. He was an avid dog lover and was the father to 3 fur babies – Frazer (Scottie), Colleen (Westie) and Suri (Japanese Chin).
His obvious passions were radio, broadcasting, music, movies, deep laughs and most of all Memphis. He was Mr Radio inside and out, taking radio stations from the lowest of the low to the highest of the high.
He loved his family and friends deeply and found his true soulmate later in life.
He was Rip to his Beth. Admired and loved by many.
You will be missed beyond belief and a void that can never be filled.
A private memorial will held at a later date.

We were friends throughout our senior year. He really helped me when he had to pick me up and tell me my family home was on fire. He helped me though that very difficult time. I was planning on college so I had to leave him with his radio plans. He went on to do many special things in many cities. I know I will miss him as will many others. My sincere prayers for Shantay and family.
