Terry Leron Yancy came into this world in Kansas City, Missouri on June 23, 1980 born to the Pearline Yancy and John Conway. He was the eldest child born to this union. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Rosetta Brigham, grandfather Leon Yancy & stepfather Robert Arterbery.
Terry was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools. He attended Raytown South High School and later graduated from Westport High School in the class of 1998. Terry went on to earn his bachelors degree in Business Management at University of Phoenix.
Terry joined The United States Navy for 8 years & was a Machinist's Mate Third Class (Surface Warfare) as a Hydraulic Shop Maintenance Man in USS Shreveport (LPD 12) of The United States Navy.
Terry was a Deputy Sheriff for Wyandotte County Kansas Police Dept.
Terry had an amazing compassion for helping the youth. Terry worked as a Deputy Juvenile Probation Officer for Jackson County Circuit Court for many years.He was a mentor to many, many, many kids. He had a beautiful, courageous and loving soul touched by many.
Terry passed away on Saturday, February 15,2025 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Terry was an amazing man and will be greatly missed by many. He leaves behind daughter{s} Aaliyah Yasmeen Smith, Naya Carmichael-McClain & Ty'Shine King-Love, mother Pearline Arterbery, siblings Sydney T. Arterbery & James L Reed III and a host of other family & friends.
Funeral services Saturday, March 1, at 11:00am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 10:00am -11:00am at the chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
