Terry Young

Terry Young passed away at the age of 79 on January 2, 2026 in Clark, South Dakota.

Memorial services will be at 1:00pm, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Terrance "Terry" Lee Young was born on September 13, 1946 in Britton, SD to Richard Sr. and Eleanor (Zinter) Young. Terry grew up in Ellendale, ND. He graduated in 1964 from Ellendale High School.

Terry worked for JC Penney in the Minneapolis area, eventually transferring to Hawaii with the company. While living in Hawaii, Terry enjoyed bowling with the locals and spending time with his brother who was stationed there with the Navy.

Terry took up a career in the appliance business as a salesman. He worked for Karl's Appliance in Watertown, SD for many years and also worked with his father at Young's Appliance in Ellendale.

On November 1, 1992, Terry married Danita Dahl in Watertown, SD.

In his free time, Terry was an avid bowler, participating in the PBA Senior Tour and was on the Watertown Bowling Hall of Fame. He bowled many 300 games and accomplished an 800 series. He also liked to read and play golf.

Terry is survived by his children, Malia Harnish of Red Wing, MN and Nathan Young of Cheyenne, WY; his grandchildren, Gracie, Vivian and Alex; and his siblings, Richard Jr. "Dick" (Twyla) Young and Donna (Marc) Mykkanen.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Danita and his parents.
