My condolences to Sue, I knew them both at the University of Wyoming. I took Quantum Mechanics physics from Thad and he pretty much drug me through the class! They both were in the Electrical Engineering department when I left Laramie! I tracked him down using the internet and he remembered me. We talked about ranching and how the water table was so high, it was tough putting in fence posts without hitting water. He was ALWAYS just a good ol'boy..... with a Doctorate in Physics. He worked on Nuclear Fusion but really couldn't say much about it, classified information but I got the impression he was happy as a clam on his ranch with Sue! I never did see them wear anything but levis, boots and a western shirt! Hell, they could've been extras in any western movie! They smiled all the time and always had fun at everything they did! It's now Dec 9, 2023 and I've just found out he passed. He was ALWAYS A GREAT GUY!

Sorry to see Thad pass. He was my advisor at UW as I pursued getting my EE degree in 1988. I always loved how he could break down complicated theories and equations, so that I could understand and make sense of all my engineering tools (equations and theories). I did go to work for a huge semiconductor company, Renesas, and am using my degree, thanks in part to Thad and Sue to make all the physics intelligible. I never did look back, but now I see how close they lived to Buena Vista, where I live and work remotely. One day I should say Hi to Sue. Meanwhile, I always appreciated Thad and Sue's help to get all of the students through the college of electrical engineering! Thank you, John Taft
