So sorry to hear of Thad's passing. I was a graduate student of Thad's and he served as a wonderful mentor.

We found out yesterday about the passing of Dr. Kelly.
As I reflect about Dr. Kelly....My family first met him at the Beckley, WV genetic clinic. Dr. Kelly will always have a special place in our hearts. My daughter is now 11 years old and is still undergoing muscular dystrophy testing but she will always remember Dr. Kelly calling her "puddin" and being such a caring doctor to her. My deepest condolences to the family of a great doctor that touched the hearts of so many people. Also, my thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. William Wilson who was always beside of Dr. Kelly.

I remember all those years growing up in Conway, especially the High School years, playing football etc. Also enjoyed our visits at the class reunions that you attended.

Words don´t come easy. For 25 years, I have called the Kellys my family, and my heart knows they trully are. The memories we´ve treasured can neither be explained, nor retold. Mom and Dad, Elliott, Caroline & Mary Sidney are and will always be my family. The word "Dad" will always mean Thad for me, and justly so. Mom, I really wish I could be with you all these days. Dad might be gone, but my gratitude to all will only be stronger. God bless you, Daniel.

My thoughts are with Dr Kelly's family, patients and colleagues. The field of genetics has lost a giant: a smiling gentle giant

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Dr. Kelly as kind, gentle he took the time to explain to me about my son. I was a single mother and not knowing what was wrong with my child was very scary and heartbreaking. It was Dr. Kelly that held my hand and wiped my tears when I was told that Jason had a genetic disorder. He was very supportive. Dr. Kelly will always remain a part of mine and Jason's life. My son is now 35 years old!
May God Bless

Carolyn, Mary Sidney, Elliott, Caroline and all your families,
I have been keeping you all so close in my mind and heart this weekend. I am so sorry not to be in Charlottesville this week with you for the memorial service for Thad. I am happy that Steve is there and will be able to participate for both of us. Thad will leave a deep hole in our lives, as such a long time friend with whom we have shared so many good times, and family joys and sorrows along the way. His life of service to others and his zest for life-for seeing and doing all that he could--have been a real model for the rest of us to follow. Your support and love for him as a family is the greatest testament to his life--you have a wonderful bond that can never be broken, by death or anything else. We will miss him terribly as I know you will, but will have many wonderful memories to uplift us.
Sending love and my deepest sympathy to you all.

We are sincerely sorry to hear of the death of Dr. Kelly last week. He was a huge help to us in the early years of our son, Nicholas', life as he helped us in understanding achondroplasia and in diagnosing Nick with a seizure disorder. Dr. Kelly always took time with us to answer questions and help to educate us, and we knew he sincerely cared about our concerns and our son. He will be sorely missed.
