Nacida el 29 de noviembre de 1944 en Puerto Plata, República Dominicana, hija de Matilde Santana y Pedro Aquino, Milan fue conocida como una ama de casa enérgica, excelente cocinera, con una risa contagiosa y un gran sentido del humor. Amaba bailar merengue típico, disfrutar de una cerveza fría y sus juegos.
Milan fue precedida en muerte por sus padres y su hija mayor, Maribel Sánchez. Le sobreviven sus hijos: Jina Toribio, David Minaya y Richard Minaya; sus nietos: Vanessa Almanzar, Christopher Duval, William Minaya, Sofía Toribio, Zara Minaya, Alejandro Toribio y Dave Minaya; sus bisnietos: Lisandro Almanzar, Leandro Almanzar, Landen Almanzar y Vanely Almanzar; su hermana, Jacqueline Chalas; sus yernos y nueras: Alex Toribio, Zaritma Minaya y Sammy Almanzar; así como numerosos amigos y familiares.
Se celebrará un servicio memorial en su honor el miércoles 7 de enero de 2026, de 3 a 6 p.m., en International Funeral Service of New York II, ubicado en el 1761 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10031.
Thelma Celeste Aquino, affectionately nicknamed "Milan," passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 28, 2025, due to complications from the Flu.
Born on November 29, 1944, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to Matilde Santana and Pedro Aquino, Milan was best known as a spit-fire homemaker who was a great cook, had an infectious laugh, biting sense of humor, loved to dance merengue tipico, enjoy a cold beer and her games.
Milan is preceded in death by her parents and eldest daughter, Maribel Sanchez, and survived by children, Jina Toribio, David Minaya, and Richard Minaya; her grandchildren Vanessa Almanzar, Christopher Duval, William Minaya, Sofia Toribio, Zara Minaya, Alejandro Toribio and Dave Minaya; great-grandchildren, Lisandro Almanzar, Leandro Almanzar, Landen Almanzar, and Vanely Almanzar; sister, Jacqueline Chalas; in-laws, Alex Toribio, Zaritma Minaya, and Sammy Almanzar; as well as by many friends and relatives.
A memorial service in her honor will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 3 to 6 pm in the International Funeral Service of New York II located at 1761 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10031.
