Thelma Walsh Beasley

Thelma Walsh Beasley, 79, of Esmont, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008.

She was born in Nelson County, daughter of the late Robert Edward Taylor and Mary Agnes Ragland Taylor, and was the widow of Raymond "Ike" Walsh and Phillip Berryman Beasley.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwen Davis and her husband, Barry, of Barboursville and Gayle Luck and her husband, Wayne, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Angela Allen and her husband, Phillip, Jacob Small and his wife, Joy, Karen Tinsley and her husband, Marcus, and Kelly Davis; six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Emily Small, Kasean Kavorik, Elijah Davis, Khalil Tinsley and Bayleigh Allen; and one step grandchild, Josh Sprouse. In addition she is survived by two sisters-in-law, Frances Beasley of Schuyler and Margaret Moore of Wytheville, Virginia; a very special niece, Diane Beasley Rodriguez and her sons, Ivan and Sergio.

Thelma was a 1970 graduate of the University of Virginia Practical Nursing Program and she worked there in the West 2 Pediatric Department until 1979. She then worked in Children's Rehab from 1979 until 1988 and at the Blue Ridge Epileptic Center from 1988 until 1990. Following retirement, she was active in community activities as well as her church, New Faith United Methodist Church, in Schuyler. At the church, she was Sunday school Superintendent from 1991 until 2005 and was a member of the United Methodist Women for many years.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville with the Reverend Glenn Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
