Thelma Hutton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home - Anchorage on Mar. 24, 2025.
Thelma Hutton, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 82 in Anchorage, Alaska, after a courageous battle with vascular dementia.
Thelma was born on October 10, 1942, in King Cove, Alaska. She spent several years in Sitka where she raised her young children, before moving to Anchorage.
Thelma was the world's best Grandma and Great-Grandma, called "Goomie" by those who loved her most. It was a title she wore with pride and lived up to every single day. Her love for her family was boundless, and she made sure her Grandkids and Great-Grandkids always knew just how special they were. She never missed an opportunity to remind her family how much she loved them, always ending with her famous words: "I love you and don't you forget it!" Her warmth and kindness were unmatched, and her love was a constant source of comfort and joy.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was playing bingo, pull tabs and card games, or just spending time with the people she loved most. Her presence brought joy and laughter to every gathering, and her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be part of her life.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Larry Hutton of Libby, MT. She is survived by her children; Monica (Brian) Smith, Jody (Ron) Embly, Erica (Sam) Srisaneha, and Lawrence Hutton. Grandchildren; Madison Brees, Lukas Ballesteroz, Thavun Srisaneha, Remington Conner, Emerson Embly, Jaden Srisaneha, Tristan Ballesteroz, Taylor Ford, Siri Srisaneha, Soleigah Smith, Thane Srisaneha and 11 great grandchildren.
Thelma's life will be honored in a private gathering in Anchorage as well as a celebration of life in Libby, MT in the summer.
A special thank you to all the staff at Thrive Assisted Living for their love, compassion, and kindness.
