Thelma Jones Obituary
Thelma E. Jones, 90, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at UK-St. Claire HealthCare.
She was born on November 25, 1934 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Walter and Rosa McDaniel Jones.
Thelma was retired from Johnson Controls in Georgetown, Kentucky and she had also worked at Wal-Mart and Cowden’s.
She sold Avon for several years, having received numerous awards from them.
Thelma lived in Cynthiana, Kentucky for many years, where she was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center.
She was a talented musician, who loved to sing and play the guitar and she also enjoyed sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Gilliam and Brent Gilliam, two brothers, Quinton Jones and John Paul Jones, three sisters, Merrill Lowe, Clara Moore and Hildreth Gay Jones and one grandson, Jeremy Crum.
Survivors include one son, Timothy Gilliam and his wife, Amy of Claremore, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 24, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Elder Amy Gilliam officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lyons Cemetery at Elliottville.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
