Mrs. Thelma Green Joyner

COLUMBIA Services for Thelma Green Joyner, 85, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, West Columbia Ward, with burial in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church in the Relief Society Room. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Joyner, wife of the late Ferris Kimball Joyner, died Monday, November 18, 2013. Born in Greens Creek, NC, she was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late George Harley and Mary Carleta Estes Green. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Joyner retired from the Veterans Hospital and was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan. She served a full-time mission at Carlsbad, CA for the Latter Day Saints Church and she and her husband worked at the Atlanta, GA Temple. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Ayers (Avery) of Columbia; sons, Ferris Kimball Joyner, Jr. (Derek Riggs) of Charleston, SC and Larry G. Joyner (Leslie) of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and niece, Jeanette Ross. Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund of Church of Latter Day Saints, West Columbia Ward, 1330 Whippoorwill Dr., West Columbia, SC 29169.
