Thelma M. Lockney (Meiley)
LANCASTER: Thelma M. (Meiley) Lockney, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Sterling Village Nursing Home. Thelma was predeceased by her first husband, Claude Reitenauer, who was killed in action in Anzio, Italy in 1944, while serving in the United States Army. Her second husband of 64 years, James S. Lockney, Sr., passed away in 2010.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Claude Reitenauer & Rosalyn of Bolton, James Lockney, Jr. & Priscilla of Lancaster, Charles Lockney & Kathleen of West Boylston, and Deborah Skiest & partner Brett Yukanvitch of Worcester; her grandchildren, Gwynth Reitenauer, David Lockney, Stephen Lockney, Julianna Dufrense, Ami Howes, Ryane Kitner, Joshua Kitner, Michael Skiest, Lyndsy Skiest and Colleen Pulsifer; several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis A. Lockney, and by her sisters, Ruth Reitenauer and Ethel Reitenauer.
Thelma was born in
Allentown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Joseph P. and Beatrice (Brong) Meiley. Thelma was a very nurturing mother and devoted homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and taking care of her own children as well as those she welcomed into their home from the neighborhood. Thelma was a very stylish woman who enjoyed fashion and jewelry and was always impeccably dressed. She took great pride in her appearance.
Thelma enjoyed Florida, where she and Jim lived for many years. While in Florida, she was a volunteer worker at Bob Barker's PASCO Thrift Shop for many years, even meeting Mr. Barker himself, while receiving an award for her countless hours volunteering. She also volunteered at the Clinton Hospital Thrift Store for many years until their closing when she was 94 years old.
Calling hours will be held from 4 until 6 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water Street, Clinton. Burial will be held at a later date in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Thelma M. Lockney, for her fondness of animals especially cats to: Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606.
