Thelma Pauline “Polly” (Minnis) Still, loving wife, mother, and “Granny,” passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on October 31, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, Polly spent nearly her entire life surrounded by family and friends in the community she cherished. She was a devoted member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church, where she lovingly served in the nursery and taught Sunday school for many years.
Polly retired after a long career as the cafeteria worker at Taylor Elementary and the cafeteria manager at Waterville Elementary, where she was known for her kindness and warm smile. Even after retirement, she continued giving back to her community. She traveled to every state except Alaska and Hawaii, and volunteered with the American Red Cross, where she offered comfort and assistance to families of hospitalized patients.
Polly’s greatest joy was her family. She loved hosting gatherings, cooking for her loved ones, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In recent years, as her health declined, Polly was lovingly cared for by a dedicated group of caregivers. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to each one who helped care for her during that time.
Polly was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47years, Roy Lee “Jack” Still; infant son, Gary Still; son, Richard Lee “Ricky” Still; brother, Jack Minnis; sister, Lois Jean Rogers; and her parents, Fredrick and Edith (Dishroon) Minnis.
She is survived by her children: Thomas Joe Still (Phyllis), Don Still (Vickie), and Kay Still; daughter-in-law, Donice Still; and sister, Emma Jo Soward. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Brittani “Tani” Still, Bo Still (Anita), Jenny Still, Adam Still (Heather), Alex Still, Ryan Lee Still (Sarah Emily), and Kenlie Thomas; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever remember her love and warmth.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Poole Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m. and graveside service at Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. Pastors Kevin Teague and Joe White will officiate.
Pallbearers are Greg Epperson, Chris Renner, Jeff Still, Ricky Lewallen, Wayne Henry, Bo Still, and Xander Still with Honorable pallbearer Mike Elmore.
