Thelma "Sally" Louise Hobbs

Thelma “Sally” Bozeman Hobbs was born January 22, 1944, to Odie B. and Ernestine Nash Bozeman in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Thelma was baptized at an early age at Independent Baptist Church in Como, Texas. She later joined Prairie Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Cleveland Alexander and Jacksonville Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Apostle Dwight Smith.

Thelma graduated from Douglas High School in 1964. While in high school Thelma participated in the Color Guard/Band, choir and track. Thelma was married to Elvin Hobbs for 49 years.

Thelma worked at Green Acres Nursing Home and NETO for many years as a Dietitian Assistant and worked her way to Dietitian Supervisor. She also worked at AAA Wire Factory(inspector), HD Lees Sewing Factory (Seamster), Dairy Queen (Cook), American Home Health (Domestic worker) and a childcare sitter in the community for many years. 

Thelma loved the Lord, family, and friends. She enjoyed reading the Bible, praising the Lord and most of all sharing the word of God. Thelma was a minister, soloist who sang with her sisters, the Bozeman Singers, and the Gospel Harmonizers. She enjoyed cooking and baking desserts. Thelma enjoyed watching church ministries on television, sports, and numerous other television shows. 

Thelma “Sally” Hobbs left her earthly body on June 29, 2023. Thelma lives on in the hearts of her children Michael Hobbs and Kimberly Hobbs, both of Emory, Texas, and daughter, Toni Jones (Beaumont, Texas), 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sisters, Connie Dunlap of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Willie (Hubert) Robinson, Swaunice McMillan, and Delores Smith, all of Emory, Texas, Sandra (Norris) Mayberry, of Point, Texas, and brother, Lee Arvis (Susan) Bozeman of Como, Texas, Lee Hobbs brother-in-law of Emory, Texas, Helen Hobbs sister-in-Law of Los Angeles, California and a host of nieces, nephews, family. and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Hobbs, her parents, brothers, Tommy F. Bozeman, Odie B. Bozeman and sister, Lucy Strange.
