Mother Theodora Elizabeth "Mother Marie Therese of the Child Jesus, OCD" Cycyk

Mother Marie Therese of the Child Jesus, OCD a.k.a. Theodora Elizabeth Cycyk, the Mother Foundress of the Carmelite Monastery in Alexandria, passed into Eternal Life Thursday October 9th, in her 60th year of Religious Life at age 79. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Mildred (Pucher) Cycyk and her brother, Michael Cycyk, and her sister, Mildred Dumais. She is survived by her brother, Stephen Cycyk and brother-in-law, Calvin Dumais, along with several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11 AM at the Carmelite Monastery in Alexandria, SD. The Most Reverend Bishop Donald E. DeGrood, Bishop of Sioux Falls, will be the principal celebrant. Any priest desirous of concelebrating is asked to kindly bring alb and stole. The Carmelite Chapel is open for viewing of the body on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 11 &12) from 10:30 -10:55 AM, from 11:40 AM - 4:30 AM, and again from 5:15 - 6:30 PM. Visitors are welcome to kneel or stand at the altar rail to view the body through the choir grating. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
