I was the Corporate Secretary for Forstmann, Forstmann, & Little's (and Howard Leach) first merger-acquisition of The Union Ice Company (Union Ice & Cold Storage, subsidiary) in San Francisco, from September, 1981 to June, 1984. During that period, they also acquired Dr. Pepper and Topps.
The occasions that I spent directly with Ted, his (late) brother Nick, and (the late) Brian Little were impressive to say the least.
I have followed Ted's career and pursuits from that time until his passing away in November, 2011. Quite a remarkable life.

A" Man for All Seasons ". The world will miss, and the road harder to travel without his direction. His life's work, his deeds, his being here inspired hope.....

Last night, I watched Charlie Rose share about you and the love and respect you had for one another; in addition I watched your two sons as they spoke of you in such utter love and respect. I was touched deeply. You mattered to this life. You were a man of integrity and humility in a world that richly needs more such as yourself. How I wish I could have met you and have been in the same room with you and Nelson Mandela. Thank you, for living among us.

Mr. Forstmann,

I want to acknowledge that you mattered to me. You were wall upholstery's biggest fan. I was always honored, blessed and grateful for having worked in all your homes.

President Lincoln asked a little boy what he wanted to be when he grew up. The boy said he did not know. Lincoln said "whatever you choose to be, be a good one." In business and with your many acts of kindness world wide, you were not just good, you were wonderful and amazing.

My deepest condolences to your family and friends.

Sincerely,
Richard Edlin

Ted, the first time we met was in the office of The Catholic Big Brother Association in 1979. Here I was a very troubled kid at 10yrs old and I had know clue the man sitting next to me would change My life forever.
Over the years you always stuck by me, and never gave up, when others would. We would always say "Upward and Onward". That was Our goal.
Well Big Bro, You saved one life,so yes You have saved the world!! You have always been My Guardian Angel and I know you are still doing Gods work.
I will love and cherish Our times together in My heart forever, and I will keep your compassion on helping others when in need growing.
I love You and miss You dearly My Dear Friend that was indeed the best father I could have ever had!
I love you you and miss you dearly!
