Rev T.J. Jemison baptized my husband, my brother and myself many years ago when we were all young. My mother and father and my husband's mother were members of Mount Zion Baptist Church for many years. Dr T.J. Jemison left this world a much better place. He came to office in the National Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc. at a time of much uncertainty. He led wisely and well. The road that this generation of leaders travel was paved by this great leader. A great man has transitioned.

He helped me while I was in college; drove a long distance on the Saturday before the NBC, USA, Inc Annaul meeting to perform my wedding seremony in rural North Louisiana; encouraged and supported me throughout my professional life. I was the Revs waitress on Wednesday night for years, Alway ordered lemonade and saltine crackers, no bread. He was kind to me and generous to my children.

A true icon of the Civil Rights movement, pastor of Mt Zion First Baptist Church for 54 years,great speaker & a true leader. He will be missed by those who knew him and all who reaped the benefits of his efforts!
