When I moved to Maine in 2000, I was introduced to CaptTed. What a delightful man; we soon became friends. He did so many beautiful projects in my home to make it look like a designer´ s, "classy" adobe. Every chair , every pillow had Ted´s signature on it. Truly a gifted soul, I shall always remember his talent and kindness. Elaine Pew

Captain Ted certainly touched many people, passengers, and crew in his life and changed more than a few upon meeting and sailing with them. I´m one of them. We sailed together in the eighties and after his retirement, became life-long friends, enjoying coastal Maine drives, day sails from Boothbay Harbor, and sharing our sailing adventure stories, whether by phone or during my yearly trips to his beloved state. Like he, I was a passenger turned crew, using what he had taught me on the Mattie, to sail and meet many more captains and crews. He was a hands-on teacher, teaching us wooden boat seamanship, telling us Maine history and sailing traditions. His rich, low voice sang with us as we were learning sea songs during evenings on the bays. Ted was the finest kind, was family to me. I´ll think of him daily, as I work the lines, the wood, the sails, the waters, and sing the songs we sang together through the years. Thank you, Ted, for bringing me into the dream. Love, Rick

I am lucky to have an old, hand carved wooden foot stole that my Dad made in High School that Ted re-covered for me. When I look at it or sit on it, I not only can remember my Dad, but the brilliance that was Ted. I am also lucky enough to have a lovely chair that had an unfortunate history from my old frame shop that Ted re-worked. With his magic he made the chair a thing of beauty that now has a prominent home in my front hall. I will always treasure these and more happy memories of Captain Ted. He will always live on in my/our heart. Susan Brackett

Captain Ted did such incredibly beautiful upholstery work for us. Our home has so much of his exquisite chairs and pillows that he did with such loving care. Ted became our friend. We will miss him and his gracious spirit. Michael and Elaine Pew

I remember learning to tie my shoe and telling him. He was holding me in his arms and I turned quickly and accidentally hit his nose with my elbow causing a bloody nose. I remember many times burning peeled Burch bark on the wood stove.
