Theodore Franklin Obituary
Theodore (Ted) Roosevelt Franklin, Jr.
Theodore (Ted) Roosevelt Franklin, Jr. age 84, passed away, October 27, 2023, at James H. Quillen Mountain Home Veteran Affairs after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Ted was a 1958 graduate of Sullivan High School. He served six years in the U.S. Navy during the Lebanon Crisis. He retired from Grand Home Furnishings in 2008 after many years of service. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Christian, a proud veteran and a man who loved all his family and friends. He left a legacy of memories and stories that can never be erased.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Franklin, Sr. and Virginia Franklin; and brother, Bobby Franklin.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Steadman Franklin of the home; daughters, Vickie Gilmer, Sherry Tipton and husband, Scott; sons, Teddy Franklin and wife Angel, Eric Franklin, all of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Loren May and husband, Jeremy, Krissa Light and fiancé, Tyler, Eli Franklin, Evan Franklin, Peyton Franklin; two great-grandchildren, Harper and Lincoln May; brother, Larry Franklin and wife, Judith; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 3/265.
