Theodore Edward "Ted" Hacker of Sardinia, Ohio, a proud Navy veteran, dedicated farmer and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Clay County, Kentucky to the late Claude O. Hacker Sr. and Nora (Arnold) Hacker. Ted was raised in the Hamilton, Ohio area and spoke fondly of growing up on his family's farm, developing an enduring love for the land that defined his life. He was a graduate of the class of 1950 from Ross High School in Ross, Ohio. His time at school marked the beginning of a journey filled with achievements and contributions to his community and country. A dedicated patriot, Ted served his country in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in Cincinnati in March 1951, serving in the Korean War and honorably discharged in March 1955. During his service, he held the rank of Machinist Mate Second Class and was assigned to the USS Shenandoah. After his military service, Ted built a distinguished civilian life. He worked at Clearing Manufacturing in Hamilton, Ohio and later at the Procter & Gamble lvorydale plant in St.Bernard, Ohio. He retired from Procter & Gamble and pursued his true passion on his farm in Sardinia, Ohio. Ted cherished his land, where he raised cattle and cultivated bountiful crops of corn, soybeans, orchard grass and other vegetables. His leisure activities showcased his mechanical skill and historical appreciation, as he loved working on his tractors and rebuilding Model T Fords. Late in life, Ted embraced his faith, becoming baptized and confirmed Catholic at St. Mary Arnheim Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years - Catherine (Graf) Hacker in 2007 whom he married February 7, 1953 and six siblings - Claude Hacker Jr., Owen Hacker, Thomas Hacker, Joseph Hacker, Gordon Hacker Sr. and Patricia (Hacker) Wysong.
Mr. Hacker is survived by his five loving children - Susan (Hacker) Fehrman and husband Michael, Michael Hacker and wife Lynn, Theodore Hacker Jr. and wife Birgitt, Douglas Hacker and wife Donna and Steven Hacker and wife Nancy; proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren - Dr. Emily (Fehrman) Cory, Eric Fehrman, Brian Hacker, Jonathan Hacker, Kris Hacker, Katie (Hacker) Mitchell, Klayton Hacker, D.J. Hacker, David Hacker, Dylan Hacker, Dr. Stephanie (Hacker) Regan and Samuel Hacker; great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren - Lincoln Hacker and Maverick Hacker and five brothers - Jerry Hacker, Dean Hacker, Michael Hacker, Wayne Hacker and Andy Hacker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2025 at the St. Michael Catholic Church, 220 South High Street, Mt.Orab, Ohio 45154. Fr. Dohrman Byers will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 AM in the church fellowship hall. Interment with be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery, Ohio with military honors at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Sardinia Elementary School, 7742 Tri-County Highway, Sardinia Ohio 45171 or Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.
