Theodore George "T.G." Vaas

Theodore George Vaas, 63, of New Woodstock, NY, passed away peacefully at Upstate Medical University following a brief illness.
T.G., as he was affectionately known, was born on April 22, 1960 to Frank T. and Sarah J. Vaas in Syracuse, New York. He was a graduate of Cazenovia High School, Class of 1978. While in school, T.G. enjoyed shop class, building furniture, building scenery for the school plays, as well as participating in cross country running.
T.G. was a self-employed, highly skilled, Artisan, Finish Carpenter and Cabinet Maker. But his talents didn't stop there. It didn't matter if it was mechanical, structural or explodable, T.G. could fix it.
In addition to his talents as an Artisan, T.G. was an active member of the New Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department, celebrating 45 years of service. As a fourth generation firefighter, he started his journey as a junior fireman, working his way up through the ranks to, at one time, holding the office of Fire Chief.
T.G., in his separate time, loved spending time with family and friends, tinkering, hunting, and league golf. He was an avid outdoorsman who accomplished climbing all 46 peaks in the Adirondack mountains.
T.G. was predeceased in death by his father, Frank Theodore Vaas
He is survived by his loving wife, Babette; 16 year old daughter, Karly; mother, Sarah J. Vaas; brothers, Tim Vaas (Julie), Todd Vaas (Ginger); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at from 5 pm-7 pm on Monday, May 15 at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius, NY 13104 with services to immediately follow.
