It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Theresa Ann Hughes, a true lover of life, who left us peacefully on May 7, 2025 in Abilene. Born on September 13, 1958 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Theresa spent her days filled with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Theresa was a vibrant spirit. She was a beautician and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Her love for the outdoors shone brightly through her passions for fishing, bird watching, crafting, and gardening. She could often be found soaking in the beauty of nature or nurturing her plants with the same love she gave to her family and friends. An avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, she wore her team colors with pride and cheered loudly for every game. And let’s not forget her beloved dachshund, Frieda, who was her constant companion and brought her immense joy.
Theresa is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Chick of Eastland, who cherished her love and laughter every day of their life together, a son, Keith Salamy of Abilene, a daughter, Allison Northrop of Maryland, a grandson, Collin Northrop of Maryland, and a sister, Jenny Doweidt and husband, Ron of Pass Christian, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Alan Chick and wife, Marla of Weatherford, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Weaver, four brothers, Karl Downing, Mike Weaver, John Weaver, and Charles Weaver, Jr; brother-in-law, Ronald Chick and sister-in-law, Sharon Lewis and husband, Harvey.
Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland is directing the Celebration of Life and interment at Eastland City Cemetery on September 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM. A reception will follow the service at The Connellee Hotel, all are invited.
Rest in peace, Theresa—you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
