Theresa Pauline Rice, (Leger) passed away peacefully at the age of 101 at Life Care Center of Leominster, Massachusetts. A long-time resident of Leominster, Theresa was known for her quiet strength and gentle presence that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born in Leominster MA on February 16, 1924, Theresa was the beloved daughter of Alphonse Leger and Eva Gognen Leger.
She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley W. Rice, with whom she shared many years of marriage, as well as by her sisters Pauline Chapin, her husband Roland, and Rita Debettencourt and her husband Robert.
Theresa is survived by her devoted son, Kevin Rice, and daughter-in-law, Laura Rice. She was a proud grandmother to Michael Rice and his wife Jan Xu and their children Aidan and Ceila Rice; Christopher Rice; and Matthew Rice. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection and gratitude.
Theresa’s life was one of quiet endurance and deep love for her family. She devoted her senior years to volunteering for the ARC of Opportunity in North Central MA. As a senior she learned sign language and CPR as part of her dedicated volunteer work with the disabled. She loved vacationing at Old Orchard beach and was an avid reader.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Life Care Center of Leominster for their care and support, not only for Theresa but her family as well.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10 am in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St Leominster followed by a grave side service at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to ARC.
