Theresa M. String

Theresa M. String (nee Farrell), of Bellmawr, NJ, passed away on September 25, 2025, at age 88. Terri was born in Philadelphia, graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' H.S., and settled on Dewey Rd., where she lived for 61 years.

Many will remember her as a loyal friend, caring neighbor, avid volunteer, and woman of immense faith. She worked election polls, volunteered at St. Joachim's carnival & bingo for years, and was a former Secretary of the Bellmawr Lions Club. Terri enjoyed boating and fishing down the shore, dancing, chatting with lifelong friends, and, especially, watching the Phillies.

Family will remember Terri as the String family matriarch-a woman who showed grace, compassion, and strength, in the good times and bad. She hosted most holidays, and "mom-mom and pop's" became the grandchildren's hangout most weekends. As they got older, the family would always bring the important people in their lives to meet her, because she was the most important person in their lives. The quintessential grandmother that she was, the family would share their troubles, celebrations, and the mundane moments over warm food-waffles, goulash, and pierogi being among the favorites. There were yearly competitions over who Terri would favor with the most Christmas cookies. Her legacy will live on in both the memories and recipes she passes to her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Edward Aloysius Horus Debusious Jones String, her brothers, Leo and Donald, her daughter Theresa, and grandchildren, Nicholas and Annie, Terri continued with unwavering faith that she would see them again in Heaven. Terri assisted her husband and children in the family sign businesses, so it was fitting that she passed peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, where 3 generations of Strings kept Our Lady and her neon halo shining brightly for years. Her life is celebrated by her children, Donna, Eddie, Sallie, and Jeff, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way), a great-great-grandson, and countless friends from all over.

There will be a viewing on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 10am to 11:15am at St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church, 601 W Browning Rd, Bellmawr, NJ.

Funeral Mass to begin at 11:30am.

Interment to follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery, 515 W Browning Rd, Bellmawr, NJ 08031.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Terri's name to St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church.
