Theresa M. "Terry" (DeCosta) Vaughan, 86, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday March 25, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Vaughan.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Santos) DeCosta, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Terry was formerly employed as an assembler for Olin Aegis until her retirement. She had also worked part-time at Walmart in Fairhaven for 15 years. Many years ago, she was employed as a substitute teacher for the New Bedford School Department.
She was a dedicated individual who worked hard to care for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed making ceramics and spending time with her family and her many friends.
She is survived by her children, Mary Martins and her husband Anthony, Joan Perreira, and Aaron Vaughan; her brother, David DeCosta and his wife Joyce; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Philip DeCosta.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday March 30th at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 29th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
