Theron Ross "Terry" Yon Sr.

Mr. Theron "Terry" Ross Yon, Sr. 76, entered into rest on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Terry was born in Columbia and lived in the Midlands his entire life. He was proud of his South Carolina heritage, 5th generation he would always say, and enjoyed sharing the State's more arcane history. He attended A.C. Flora High School and is a Midlands Technical College alumnus.
Terry was a Ham Radio enthusiast. He was one of the ministers for "Hope for Hams" Radio Ministry where they broadcast once a week. Terry taught Sunday School and led an Intercessory Prayer Group at several churches over the years. He was a member of 12 Springs Community Church in Lexington.
Terry was a Master Mason and a Shriner, enjoyed fast cars and loved flying airplanes. He and his wife Carolyn live in an aviation community. Prior to him becoming disabled due to health issues, he flew a Piper Cherokee and loved flying with "The Breakfast Club", a group of aviators who would fly to different aviation communities to meet up for breakfast.
Terry had a long, varied career in the Information Technology industry, going back so far that the first computer he ever built took up his entire garage. His work spanned across myriad industries all over the country working for organizations such as Policy Management Systems and Siebels-Bruce, as well establishing his own consulting firm, Tryco Data Systems, with offices across South Carolina. In his most recent years prior to retirement, he worked for Hewlett-Packard implementing the State of Colorado's Medicare/Medicaid system. Yet, with all his experience, his largest contribution was in the people he worked with; helping others hone their technical skills, elevating their own level of excellence, helping them achieve their life goals, and even praying with them when their lives got tough. And it didn't matter what faith or nationality they were, he connected and prayed with everyone.
Terry is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Carolyn Carter Yon, his son Todd Richard Yon, his grandchildren: Theron "Terry" Royston Yon, Tirion "Ty" Ross Yon and Sarah A. Yon, all of Lexington County. Terry's siblings are David Arthur Yon and his wife Beth, and Thomas Julian "Tommy" Yon, sister-in-law Betty Yon, and brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Amy Carter. He has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Frances Yon, his son Theron "Terry" Ross Yon, Jr., his brother Larry J. Yon, and sister-in-law Gale Yon.
Graveside Service Celebrating Terry's Life will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 22, 2025 in the Wagener Cemetery, Wagener, SC. Pastor Scott Robertson will be ministering.
When he was able, Terry enjoyed being outdoors, and particularly loved planting trees – the more, the merrier, can't have too many. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, to plant a tree in memory of him.
