Carrie Minenok
January 3, 2018
Dear Andrews Family,
My name is Carrie Minenok--Frank Minenok's daughter. I'm so sorry for your loss. Growing up, I often heard my dad talk about "Tommy Andrews" from the police department. I wished I remembered everything he used to say, but I was too young I guess. I do remember that My dad told a lot of stories and Tommy was in many of them--he spoke very fondly of him. My dad isn't here anymore either, and I know he would be so sad to hear of Tommy's passing. So I'd like to speak for Frank Minenok too and say rest peacefully, Tommy Andrews.

Mr. Magoo. Tommy I have looked for you for years after I left Youngstown. Everytime I came back to visit my wife's family I would try to find you. For those who didn't know Tommy you missed a great guy. Tom, Tom Perry, Frank Minenok, myself worked at Tony's Hideaway back in the 70's. Tommy and I worked at the Vega plant in 70 and 71 back then before Tony's. Christ I remember Tom, Tom Perry and I sitting for hours back in the 70's after hours in Tony's doing our own VIet Nam Vet Counseling. I remember so much tha I can't put down here. Tommy's picture is a younger Tommy to a tee and he couldn't see past his nose even then. Hence Mr. Magoo. His hair was a little bit more. JImmy Pastore worked with us in the mid 70's. I heard of Tommy's passing on Tuesday evening and I had two veterans' I was representing before the Board of Veterans' Appeals. I know that Tommy would want me to help them because that was the kind of guy Tommy was. Tommy was a great guy. I have a thousand stories about him. I remember one time he had bought a little .25 and was on the first floor of the apartments above Tony's and the piece fell out of his pants and discharged. Damn what a hoot. I also remember one time a couch caught on fire on the first floor of the apartment building. Tom and I went through the smoke and got people out of the building. Mr. Magoo.I missed you when you were alive and I couldn't find you. I'll miss you now. When I saw the obit tears came down and those who know me know I don't cry. As I write this I'm tearing up. Christ i'm getting old. Shawn if you read this I hope you remember me fondly. They used to call me Shorty, but, I haven't been called that since I left Tony's Hideaway. I went to work for veteran's in 1979 and have continued to work for guys like Tommy and I. Most people don't know that Tommy humped a machine gun in Nam and saw more than a person should see. His children should know that their dad had stones that were larger than life. He had a sense of humor that was unforgettable. I love you Tommy and whenever I make my toast that I made even in 1970 you will be in my thoughts. To friends long gone but never forgot. Tommy, Frank, Carl, Mike Conway, Carl Jacket (Giachetti) you are those with whom we worked with at Tony's. Every year there are fewer of us. But Tommy thank you for your friendship when we were younger and I missed you and will miss you more.
