Thomas Preston (Tom) Apperson, 87 passed into heaven May 4th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Durango, Colorado on July 15th, 1937 to Preston and Vinice (Wetherington) Apperson. The family moved to Raymond when Tom was in 8th grade. He played basketball, baseball, football and track at Raymond High School where he graduated in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Corcoran on June 15th 1957. Tom worked at Weyerhauser for 42 years and he and Lois spent many winters in Yuma with their best friends Tom and Gail Maden. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed his hunting trips as well as fishing, clamming, and road trips.
He was always a cheering supporter at his grand and great grand children’s events. Tom was a lifetime member of Raymond Assembly of God church where he served as a board member, a Royal Ranger leader and served in various roles including helping to build the current Crossroads Church. Tom’s greatest treasure in life was his family and enjoyed all the family gatherings.
He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Tom leaves a legacy of loved ones including Lois his wife of over 67 years, his daughter Renee (Kent) Sommerfeld of Port Angeles; Son Randy (Shawn) Apperson of Adna; daughter Shelley (Rick) Mittge of Raymond. In addition to his children, Tom leaves behind 9 grandkids: Chad Sommerfeld, Jordan Sommerfeld, Ryan Apperson, Skylar Sommerfeld, Luke Mittge, Lexi Newman, Brandon Apperson, Austen Apperson and Lauryn Apperson; 10 great grand kids: Ashlyn, Emery, Charlie, Mila, Crew, Kace, Liam, Gracie, Knox and Aubrey and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents and sisters Peggy Spoor and Ruth Christensen.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Church in Raymond on Tuesday, May 13th at 11am.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Willapa Harbor Hospital for the excellent care given to Tom.
