Thomas J. Boltz, age 75, of Raleigh, N.C., passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Born in Erie on March 8, 1949, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Demuling) Boltz.
Thomas started high school at Cathedral Prep, but soon transferred to St. Mark Seminary, graduating in 1967. After seminary, he attended St. Mary's College in Kentucky and graduated from Mercyhurst College. He worked for over 30 years as an account specialist and manager for Rex Hospital, Robert Half International, and Waste Industries USA, all in Raleigh, N.C., and the Gertrude Barber Center, in Erie. When in Erie, he had been a member of St. Andrew Church and was currently a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Parish, in Raleigh. He was very active in both parishes, led the Ignatian Prayer Group, was the treasurer for the Knights of Columbus, was an usher, was involved in adult religious education, and sponsored new church members. Tom had been Treasurer and a Board Member of the Youngsville Charter School. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, and Browns fan all his life. He was a true fan, sticking with them through all the tough times, along with the good. He inherited his grandfather's love of fishing, spending many days enjoying the peacefulness of waiting for that first bite.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Jane (Flack) Boltz, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2000.
He is survived by his siblings, Judith Joseph (Alfred), Barbara Kuzmin (David), and Douglas Boltz; nieces and nephews, Christopher Joseph (Alison), Matthew Joseph (Melissa), Luke Joseph (Linda), Jennifer Kuzmin (Suzanne), Brian Kuzmin (Scott), Lauren Boltz, Stephanie LaValle (Michael), and Ashley Boltz; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Friends are invited to visit at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd., on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of prayers there at 10:15 a.m. A funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church will follow at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507, or the American Diabetes Association of Western Pennsylvania, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116. Condolences may be expressed at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com/obituaries.

I met him almost nineteen years ago, and I adopted him and called him my brother, he loved books and he loved animals and he loved his lord!!!! He took me to another place when he shared his knowledge and experience with his lord. We all loved hearing about growing up and serving in church, we never tired of it. He never turned down a cup of coffee and a great picture of a german shepherd, we had so many many wonderful classes and times together. My entire family loved him and he is healthy and home at last with his best girl and he will never ever be forgotten, his sharing, his words, his laughter and beautiul soul will never fade. thank you Tom as you brought each of us closer with the lord, you were loved. sandy hahn
