Thomas William Bowman

1952 - 2025

Thomas William Bowman, a long time Minnesota resident, passed away on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2025 at the age of 73. Born in Florida, he was the eldest child of Bill and Lydia Bowman. Tom was married twice (first to Eve Leinhardt than to MaryAnn Singleton) and had no children, but he was always close with his sister, Andrea Bowman, and brother, Richard Bowman. His unexpected but quick death was from natural causes, occurring when grocery shopping after having a free (for veterans) meal, a Veterans Day tradition of his, at a favorite local spot where he was a regular.

Tom served in the U.S. Army for four years, in the Explosive Ordinance Division ("Bomb Squad"). Thereafter, he went to Paris, where his family was living at the time, obtained his Associate of Arts Degree from the American College in Paris and then his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Connecticut. He later moved to Minnesota and worked as a computer software consultant for many years.

After his first divorce, Tom joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, through which he met his second wife, MaryAnn, a widow with six children. He was ordained to the priesthood and the church was very supportive of Tom, through his many health challenges (two kidney transplants, heart by-pass surgery, way too many years on dialysis, and multiple other health issues), as well as after his divorce.

Tom was also blessed to have the steadfast support and companionship of his good friend of 30 years, Dennis, who saw him through many travails, keeping him safe and independent, and who went with him to the State Fair for all of those years, as well!

Tom's love of life kept him alive through all his health and personal challenges and he was best known for his intelligence and his sense of humor, as well as having an innocence that was a positive filter for viewing the world. Tom was optimistic, always able to laugh at himself and the challenges around us, gregarious, and enjoyed sharing stories and information, as well as politics, cars, guns, and gardening.

Tom enjoyed his time here with us, finding pleasure in many things, and he leaves a legacy of perseverance and appreciation of life to his survivors: his step mother, Eleanor Cappon Bowman; sister Andrea Bowman and her children; as well as his brother, Richard Bowman, his wife Yvonne, and their children. The family will arrange for services at a later date.
