Thomas Brown Obituary

Thomas Patrick Brown IV, 78, of Sierra Madre, California, passed away May 28, 2025 at Keck Arcadia Hospital in Arcadia, California, following hospitalization for sepsis and pneumonia. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a combat soldier in Vietnam. After graduating from Temple University and Vanderbilt University Law School, he was a leading practitioner of labor and employment law and business litigation for 50 years in Georgia and then California. In Southern California, he was a partner at the firms of Jackson Lewis PC, Ford & Harrison LLP, Epstein Becker & Green PC and Brown Gitt Law Group ALC. Mr. Brown was an avid cyclist, runner and swimmer until his health failed. He is survived by his sons Thomas P. Brown of St Helena, California, Peter Brown of Los Angeles, California and Josiah Gitt of Sierra Madre, California; his longtime partner Cynthia Gitt of Sierra Madre, California; his granddaughters Amelia Brown and Beatrice Brown of Los Angeles, California; his sisters Margaret Brown Dougherty of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Brown of Cape May, New Jersey; and his niece Trisha Dougherty McFarlane and nephews Edward Thomas, Christopher Dougherty and Kevin Dougherty. He also is survived by his former wife Elissa DeAngelo of Pasadena, California. His intelligence, humor, generosity and companionship will be sorely missed.
