Thomas A. Bushong Jr.

Thomas "Tom" A. Bushong Jr., age 75, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at his home. Tom was born on February 28, 1937 in Granite City, IL, a son to the late Thomas A. and Dorothy (Weller) Bushong Sr. On August 22, 1958, Tom married Shirley Bailey, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Tom was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Granite City, IL. He was very active in the F.I.G.S (Fellowship Involving Granite Seniors) at the church; he also played santa and the easter bunny for many years at the church as well. Tom was an auxiliary policeman for the Granite City Police Department. He worked twenty six years at Madison Metal Decorating in Madison, IL and worked at the Casino Queen as a security guard for ten years before retiring. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he adored. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers. He survived by his loving wife, Shirley Bushong; three wonderful children, Debbie (Tim) Tedesco of Granite City, IL, Lori (Mark) Jones of Granite City, IL and Sheri (Dalton) Holt of Edwardsville, IL; six grandchildren, Tommy (Lynsey) Tedesco, Jennifer Tedesco, Matt Jones, Megan Jones, Tyler Holt and Emma Holt; dear nieces, nephews, special cousins and many friends. Visitation: friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd. Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Rev. Lisa Guilliams officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
