Thomas John Cashore

Thomas John Cashore, 77, passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2025, at Southfield Village, South Bend, Indiana, following a recent illness.
Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on October 10, 1948, Tom graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1970 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. On the Monday following graduation, he married Adaline Stefanac Cashore, his Saint Mary's sweetheart whom he met in September of their freshman year. After active duty in Germany from 1971-1974, he earned master's degrees in Library Science and Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Tom's library career took him to Southern Illinois University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Hesburgh Library at Notre Dame, and McKenna Library at Holy Cross College. The final 20 and most fulfilling years of his career were spent overseeing the library in Moreau Seminary and Scholasticate. Tom's greatest joy in life was choral singing, especially with the choir at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto for more than 31 years.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Madeline McDonough Cashore and a sister, Catherine Cashore.
He is survived by his brothers William Cashore of East Greenwich, RI, and J. Michael Cashore of Burlington, NJ, and a sister, Mary Cashore Willihnganz of Blue Bell, PA. Also surviving are: his wife, Adaline Stefanac Cashore; his three children, Matt Cashore (Maria), South Bend, Anne Cashore Borjas (Henry), South Bend, and Stephen Cashore (Maria), Lafayette, IN; and six grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary's, with visitation in the Church one hour prior to the mass.
