Thomas J. "Tom" Chapp

Thomas "Tom" J. Chapp, age 70, of Hillsdale, formerly of Toledo, Ohio and Key West, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 3, 1954, in Toledo, to Bernard and Barbara (Hudson) Chapp.
Tom attended St. John's Jesuit High School and Bowsher High School before going on to attend the University of Toledo. He served his country in both the US Army and the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Upon his honorable discharge he worked for the Lucas County Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer and later retired as a lieutenant for the Key West Police Department. He also lived in Fort Yukon, Alaska for a year where he served as the chief of police. Tom liked a secluded life and enjoyed wildlife and fishing. He was a loving grandfather and was immensely proud of his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his son, Jon (Holly) Chapp; two grandchildren, Evan and Mya Chapp; and two brothers, Larry (Wendy) Chapp and Joseph (Heidi) Chapp.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard "Bernie" F. Chapp; and his mother, Barbara J. (Bernard) Chapp-Kaminski.
There will be no services at this time for Thomas J. Chapp. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
