Thomas Allen Cowher Jr.

Thomas A. Cowher Jr. of Poland, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Beeghly Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Boardman with his family by his side. He was 57 years old. Born on May 10, 1953 in Youngstown, Thomas was the son of Thomas A. Sr. and Lurana B. (Butcher) Cowher and was a 1971 graduate of Western Reserve High School. Thomas was a heavy equipment operator for Standard Slag and also worked as a semi truck driver for APX Trucking Company in North Lima and as a driver for Provide-a-Ride in Cleveland, where he worked until being involved in an accident in 2007. Thomas was an avid sports fan. Thomas is survived by his mother Lurana of Poland; three sons Michael T., Geoffrey A., both of Boardman and SGT. Matthew S. Cowher, United States Army stationed in Anchorage, Alaska; a brother John E. of Poland; a sister Diana (Don) White of West Middlesex, PA; a grandson Zachary Cowher; two nephews and three neices; John Cowher Jr., Andrew White; Ashley White, Chantelle Cowher and Devin Cowher. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sr. There will be a memorial service celebrating Thomas's life on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield, where family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Thomas's name to Beeghly Oaks Rehabilitation Center, 6505 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
