Thomas Scott Crawford—more commonly known as Scott—touched our lives from April 2, 1963, until January 20, 2025. Born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, Scott moved to North Carolina with his family in 2001 where the Carolinas became his new home.
He wasn’t just a builder of structures; he was a builder of friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories over his 24 years in the building industry. Everyone who knew him would agree: he was genuinely the life of the party!
Scott had a charm that made him quick friends with everyone he met. If there was laughter in the air, you could bet Scott was the one stirring it up with his unmatched sense of humor and quick wit. Known for his "old soul," he brought joy and vibrancy to any gathering with stories filled with random facts—words of wisdom collected from years of living life fully and joyfully.
No matter the hobby—whether it was antiquing, traveling to the mountains, storm watching, landscaping, or simply relaxing in the garage with a cigar in hand—it didn’t matter as long as he had the love of his life by his side. Where there was Scott, there was Jeanne. They were a once-in-a-lifetime pair, a rare love that’s hard to find.
His luck with scratch-off tickets was legendary, not only within the family but across the community. He knew how to make the most of every stop at the gas station—sharing jokes, making friends with strangers, and chatting with the workers during his morning routine. More than just a husband, father, grandfather (Bumpa), son, and brother, he was the dependable friend everyone could count on, the one whose door was always open, who never met a stranger, and the person who brought light and laughter to every gathering.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 36 years (13,042 days), Jeanne Crawford, along with their incredible son, Thomas A. Crawford, and his wife Lindsay. His radiant daughter, Lauren Jernigan, and her husband Ryan, are proud to carry on his memory. As a grandfather (Bumpa), He’s reveled in the laughter of his four beloved grandchildren—Jaxson, Fisher, Lucy, and Brody—who will forever remember him for his endless stories, warm hugs, and his unwavering ability to do whatever it took to bring a smile to their faces.
Scott leaves behind a mother, Joan Cione, and brothers Wayne, Michael, and Nick Crawford. His family extends to several nieces and nephews, along with countless friends who were more like family to him.
Scott is preceded in death by his father Thomas Pete Crawford and his brother Vincent Anthony Crawford.
Although we mourn the sudden passing of this incredible man, let us gather to celebrate Scott's life on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Visitation will be held at Raymer – Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
As we say goodbye, let us carry forward the spirit of joy, laughter, and love that Scott shared with all of us. His warmth, humor, and light will continue to shine in our hearts. Rest in peace, Scott. You will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
