Thomas Crone Obituary

Thomas (Tom) Alan Crone, 69, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife Janice (Kris) and his loving family, on the day of their 48th wedding anniversary after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Frederick, Maryland, Tom was the son of the late Edward and Doris Crone. He was a 1975 graduate of Thomas Johnson High School and went on to build a remarkable 50-year career as a machinist and tool-and-die maker. He was employed by NCI: Frederick Cancer Research, where he worked until his retirement in 2012, while also operating his own shop, T & K Machine & Repair, alongside his devoted wife, Kris. True to his unwavering work ethic, Tom continued working in his shop as long as his health allowed, remaining dedicated to his craft until the summer of 2025.

A lifelong farmer, Tom lived on his family's farm for his entire life. Even while maintaining full-time work and running his machine shop, he always made time to assist his father with the crops and serve as the family mechanic. In recent years, he also worked alongside his brothers at Farmer Chuckbone's Pumpkin Patch, continuing a legacy of family, farming, and shared hard work.

Over the years, he became actively involved in many organizations that reflected his passions. Tom found some of his greatest joy working in the shop, whether at work or in his home workshop. He was an avid collector of many things, and his generosity of time and talent touched countless lives.

In addition to his loving wife Kris, Tom is survived by his brothers Charles Crone and Donald Crone (Regina); his sister-in-law Patsy Eavey; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Alongside his family, Tom leaves behind countless friends from the many organizations, clubs, and communities that shaped his life. He will also be deeply missed by his loyal four-legged daughter, Ginger.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Maryland Oncology and Frederick Health Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support throughout Tom's journey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5th, at 11:00 AM, also at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately following at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, Maryland.

In Lieu of Flowers Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, Maryland, or Frederick Health Hospice. Thomas Crone

Kris and Family, I had hoped to see Tom before he got bad, seems I loose more now a days, older and slower, I prayed every night for you both, Tom was a good friend and skilled craftsman. When I was there working on something he told me of his days in the dark under a tractor in the cold trying to get it running. I can relate to him and you Kris, dedicated to each other and others that needed help. God bless you all , Kris & family be at peace Tom is in a better place. Paul Thomas
