THOMAS RAY DEAL, 51, of Leavenworth, Kansas, formerly of Ogallala and Sidney, passed away January 30, 2026, in Leavenworth.
Thomas was born on March 16, 1974, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Tommy Ray and Sheila Marie (Jallen) Deal. He was raised primarily in Sidney before attending school in Madrid. Tom finished high school in Ogallala, graduating with the Class of 1994. Tom worked on the harvest crew for the Payne family and always enjoyed the hard work and camaraderie.
Throughout his working years, Thomas was employed in trucking and automotive work. He worked at Cabela's at one time and later at Sapp Bros in Ogallala. He moved to Leavenworth around 2019 and began working for AutoZone.
Thomas had taken up an interest in all things automotive, which he got from his grandpa and uncle. He eventually pursued higher education in automotive systems, which served him well during his tenure at Auto Zone.
Thomas loved deer hunting and fishing and was great at shooting pool. He also had a fondness for Harley-Davidsons. Those who knew him best described him as having a heart of gold and a gentle nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
Survivors include his two children, Sheila Deal and Daniel Deal, both of Leavenworth, Kansas; his aunt, Iris (Steve) Olofson of Ogallala; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
No services are planned at this time. Interment of cremains will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery at Sidney.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com. Cards may be sent to Iris Olofson at 191 Peterson Dr. in Ogallala.
