Thomas Matthew Dittrich

Celebration of Life for Thomas M. Dittrich age 64 of Tilden Nebraska will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Antelope County Ag Youth Enrichment Center in Neligh. Visitation will be an hour before from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Antelope County Ag Youth Enrichment building. Snider Memorial Funeral Home in handling the arrangement.    Thomas was born on October 7, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska, as Steven Bradley Matthews along with his twin sister, Beth Bennett. He was later adopted by Rudy and Elaine Dittrich, who gave him the name Thomas Matthews Dittrich, a name he proudly carried throughout his life.

   Thomas was a dedicated farmer and cattle owner who built his life around hard work. responsibility, and care for the land. He was deeply committed to his family and took great pride in supporting his children in all their pursuits. One of his greatest passions was his children's involvement in 4-H, where he devoted more than 25 years to coaching and supporting shooting sports, mentoring countless youth with patience, encouragement, and integrity.

   Thomas was married to Peggy Dittrich for 38 years, a partnership rooted in love, perseverance, and shared values. Together they raised their three children: Mercedes, Ashley, and Jamie, who were the center of his life and his greatest accomplishment. In addition to being a wonderful father, Thomas was a loving and devoted grandfather, joyfully spoiling his granddaughter and recently cherishing the opportunity to meet his newest grandson moments that brought him immense pride and happiness.

   Those who knew Thomas will remember his gentle smile, loving heart, and the pride he took in caring for those he loved, as well as his willingness to give his time to help others succeed.

   Thomas's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the land he worked, and the many young lives he influenced through his years of service and mentorship.

   Thomas is survived by his wife. Peggy Dittrich; his daughters, Mercedes (husband Logan) Gholson, with grandchildren Bentley and Riker Gholson, Ashley Dittrich, and Jamie (husband Garrett) Wills; his parents, his brothers, Jim Matthews, Bob Matthews, Tom Matthews, Mike Matthews, and Francis Larson: and his sisters. Beth Bennett and Amanda Matthews.

   He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Matthews and Brad Schuster, and his sisters, Sue Zach and Patty Matthews.
