DONOHOE, Rev. Thomas P. Beloved Pastor A devoted servant of God, passed away peacefully, after a fulfilling and faithful life, on July 18, 2024 at Regina Cleri Residence in Boston. He was 97. Born on April 9, 1927 in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Patrick Donohoe and Mary Kate (Duffy) Donohoe. Tom graduated with honors in Lowell High's class of 1942. He attended St. John's Seminary, and was ordained into the priesthood on January 10, 1952. Fr. Donohoe served several parishes in the Boston area, his final assignment being a long and successful tenure at St. Irene Catholic Church in Carlisle, MA, where he oversaw the building of the parish's beautiful new church. Retiring as Senior Priest on June 1, 2019 at the age of 92, he was said to be the oldest pastor in the country. He took great joy in his interactions with his congregation, happily participating in every show and pageant throughout the year. Fr. Donohoe also appreciated the kindness extended to him by his fellow clergy and members of his church. "Father Tom," as he was known to his family, was cherished by all. Wonderful memories were made at Hampton and Seabrook beaches, where he would host the family each summer. Important occasions were made special having a priest in the family to celebrate weddings, baptisms and funerals. He was an avid golfer, piano player, traveler, and reader. He never missed his daily crossword puzzle or an episode of Jeopardy. His Irish roots ran deep, with Celtic tunes among his favorites. Father Donohoe is survived by his sister and best friend, Virginia Ouellette; his nieces and nephews and their families, including Anne Cricones, Patricia Thompson, Robert Ouellette, Thomas Beakey, Jeffrey Ouellette, Maureen Nussdorfer, Marianne Doherty; his extended family; his family in faith; and his dear friend, Don Nicholson. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Lillian Beakey. Family, friends and parishioners are invited to gather for Visiting Hours at St. Irene Parish, 181 East Street, Carlisle, where Fr. Tom will lie in repose on Monday, July 22, from 4 to 7 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church on Tuesday, July 23 at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell.
