Thomas Donoway Obituary
Published by Legacy on Aug. 18, 2025.
Thomas (Tommy) Revere Donoway (66) of Newark, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He was born on January 23, 1959 to the late Paul and Maude Donoway.
Tommy's life with MS was both challenging and limiting due to mobility issues. He learned to adapt and function in his daily life and made the best out of each situation with his perseverance, determination, and sense of humor. The illness never diminished his quick wit and outlook on life. With the support and love from his wife and family, Tommy was able to remain at home; looking out over the land he loved and watching the many television shows that helped him pass the time each day. He was especially fond of westerns, Gun smoke, Bonanza, Tour of Duty, Magnum Pl, MacGyver and Orioles baseball.
Tommy was a 1977 graduate of Snow Hill High School. He spent most of his career employed by Central Implement in Snow Hill, working in both the parts counter and parts delivery. He also worked at Sunoco, part-time at Tastee Freeze, and worked with his family in the masonry trade.
Tommy was an avid hunter and loved spending time in the woods. He was a member of the Inverness Hunting Club and was a regular at the Whitetail Outpost. You could often find him working on a tree stand, practicing archery, working on food plots, and preparing for his hunting sea-son. Tommy always kept the hummingbird feeders full, and made sure his sunflowers were planted in time. He also enjoyed working on his Farmall Cub, 8N Ford tractor and tinkering in his shop. Tommy was a loyal baseball fan and loved coaching Jason and friends during their time in Little League. When Tommy's health started to decline you could still always count on him being there for Jason's games, even on the most struggling days.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Kim S. Donoway, with whom he spent 41 loving years. He is also survived by a son, Jason (Haley) and their children Lily, Max, and Jake, a grandson whom they raised, Camden, and a daughter, Melissa.
Tommy is survived by his siblings, Florence (Troy), Mike (Nancy), Paula (Mike) Turner, and Wally (Robyn). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lisa (Tim) Gebhardt, a brother-in-law, Dwayne (Cindy) Shockley and mother-in-law, Lana (Marvin) Shockley.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Robbie (Tammy), Mikey (Krystal), special nephew, Garren, Brittanie (Travis), Jessica (Brandon), Timmy (Nicole), Michael (April), Travis (Samantha), Matthew (Shannon), Colby (Trudy), Collin, Curtis (Kristen), Amber (Byron), Lee (Jamie), and Zack, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Linwood, a special uncle, Frank, and his father-in-law, Benny Shockley.
On behalf of Tommy, the family would like to sincerely thank all of the people who assisted with his care over the many years of his illness.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM. at the Spence Family Center (4814 Paw Paw Creek Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863) for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Newark Volunteer Fire Department (8338 Newark Road, Newark, MD 21841) for all the house calls and service they provided to Tommy's needs over the years.
