Doyle, Thomas J., Captain, USN (Ret.), age 95, originally from Bronx, New York, and recently from Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was a 1947 graduate of Mount St. Michael's High School, New York, and received his degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College in 1951. Captain Doyle had a long and distinguished career in the Navy's Civil Engineer Corps, including a tour in Vietnam, Commander of the Public Works Center at Norfolk Naval Base, and Vice Commander of Naval Pacific Facilities Engineering Command. He received numerous medals and commendations, including a Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, and two Legions of Merit. After his thirty-year Naval career, he joined Bechtel Corporation in Saudi Arabia as the City Manager for the City of Al-Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Following his retirement from Bechtel, he was active in the Chesapeake Bay Writers Club and published three mystery novels. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude; his brother, James; his sister, Joan; and his high school sweetheart, who became his beloved wife, Margaret "Peggy" Doyle (nee Wood). Captain Doyle is survived by his seven adult children: Thomas Doyle, Michael (Dana) Doyle, James (Melanie) Doyle, Regina (Daniel) Benere, Cecilia (Christopher) Rennix, Sarah (James) Thomas, and Mark (Jeanne) Doyle. His legacy also includes his grandchildren: Simon, Hannah, Ivy, Rhea, Rachel, Rebecca, TJ, Brian, Sean, Lauren, Grant, Tara, Elizabeth, Margaret, Christopher, Adrian, Madelene, Damien, Roman, Charlie, Kevin, Marie, Elaine, David, and Claire, and thirty-five great-grandchildren. The funeral mass will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 12:00 pm, officiated by Father Gregory Kandt. The interment will follow at Rosewell Memorial Gardens with military honors. In memory of our loved one, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O.
