Thomas Henry "Pete" Eanes, 95, of Critz, VA passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at his home. He was born on February 24, 1929, in Leaksville, NC to the late Virginia Dare Wilson Eanes and Franklin Hannibal Eanes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Everett Eanes, Joseph Eanes, Hannibal "Dick" Eanes, Benjamin Eanes, Ealane King, Margaret Kirkman, Ora Nell Rathgeb, and Reva Harris. Pete had a successful career in the United States Air Force stationed in post-WWII occupied Japan and Germany. He married the love of his life on November 4, 1950, then traveled the world with his wife and four girls. He retired from the Air Force in 1969 and went on to work for the Greensboro Police Department and Guilford County Sheriff's Department in their crime lab. Pete was an amateur photographer, loved to hunt and fish, loved the outdoors, and loved his family most of all. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Joan Marie Stanley Eanes of the home; Kathy Lee Eanes Giles (D.L. "Pete"); Paula Kay Eanes; Melanie Hope Eanes Campbell (J. Stuart); Lorie Dawn Eanes Johannessen (Raymond); eight grandchildren, Joshua David and Michael Sean Giles, J. Scott and Brandon Ray Blackwood, Jennifer Lee Johannessen Johnson, April Laine Peeden Nickell, Erik Nathaniel Johannessen, Kacie Rae Johannessen Thornton; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart, Virginia with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at Norris Chapel in Stuart. Norris Funeral Services in Stuart is serving the Eanes family. Online condolences may be made at www.norrisfuneral.com

Unfortunately due to my health, I will not be able to attend Pete's Service. I worked with Pete for many years. He was a great guy and a great CSI. I am praying for GOD'S GRACE to console his family during the time of loss. Jim Joyner Greensboro PD. Retired.

Pete was my Sargent long ago and I learned a great deal from him. I am so sorry for this great loss to your family. We did things together off duty as well like dove hunting. Pete reloaded his own ammo and taught me that as well. I have great memories of Pete.

I worked with Pete at the Greensboro Police Dept. I found him to be hard working, diligent and dedicated to his family and work. I missed his abilities when he moved to the Sheriffs Department. He will be missed. H
