Thomas W. Earls, Jr. 83 of Franklin passed away June 10, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the husband of Jane (MacLean) Earls for 59 years.
Born in Brighton, November 10, 1940, the son of the late Thomas W. and Katherine (Rogers) Earls Sr., Tom was raised in Somerville and had lived in Franklin for the past 58 years.
Tom had worked as a technician for many years for the Wang Laboratories.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964, being active on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk for four of those years as a flight captain, which he loved and was very proud of.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Tracey M. Silven of Bellingham, Thomas R. Earls of Woonsocket, RI and Melissa G. Colace and her husband Mario of Franklin.
He was the brother of Dorothy Dahlinger of Dracut, Kathryn O'Leary of Peabody and Patricia Randazza of Rye, New Hampshire and the late Leo Earls and Marianne Danforth.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Molly Hanna and her husband George, Sean Lonergan, Mario, Nathan and Payton Colace, and the late Kirsten Silven.
He is also survived by his great-grandsons, Rowen and Corrick Silven and George Hanna IV.
His burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory The Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS. 66675.
Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
