Thomas Gilley

West Gardiner- Thomas A. "Pete" Gilley, 87, of the Hallowell Litchfield Road died on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Pete was born in Augusta, ME on July 1, 1938 the son of the late Herman J. And Helen M. (Mills) Gilley. He spent his childhood years growing up in Hallowell.

Pete started working at a young age in several different factories in the Mid Maine area. He spent the end of his working career as an assembler at Digital Corporation where he formed many long and lasting friendships, retiring in the early eighties.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, playing games in the yard with his children and grandchildren. He loved to hand out stuffed animals, which he kept in the trunk of his car, to children when they would be out shopping. He had a quick wit and was always ready to tell a good joke. His greatest love was the time he spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Family always came first with Pete.

Pete was predeceased by two daughters, Warene and Brenda Gilley; two brothers, James and Joseph Gilley. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lois Gilley of West Gardiner; two daughters, Lori Gilley of NH, Tanya Gilley of Bridgton; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Gilley of NH, Jason McDonald of Litchfield, Nathan McDonald of Wales, Daylan Allen of Bridgton and Lisa Sidelinger of FL; 4 great grandchildren, Garrett, Summer, River and Malakia; a sister Margaret Wilson of IL; several nieces and nephews.
