Thomas "Tom" Wayne Goins, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov 25, 1933, in Stokes County to the late Roy and Earlie Irene Goins. Mr. Goins owned and operated Mt. Airy Meat Processing then later retired from D&J Galaxy. He was a faithful member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his wife, Claudine Hall Goins; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Tony Goins and Kim; step-sons, Rusty Hawks, Randy Hawks, and Ricky Hawks; a grandchild and spouse, Angela Resignalo and Josh; great- grandchildren, Summer Goins, Caleb Resignalo, Shaelyn Resignalo, and Jessie Parkes; a brother and sister-in-law, James "JD" Goins and Wilma; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his first wife, Libby Young Goins; a grandchild, Anthony Goins; sisters, Lavina Smith, Ruth Arrington, and Rachel Bryant; brothers, Alvin Goins, Rev. Lee Goins, and Winfred Goins. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. David Sparks, Dr. Craig Edwards, and the Rev. Tony Goins officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Ln, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
