60 years ago Tom & I were in the same F8 Crusader Intro class in VF-124 at NAS Miramar in San Diego Ca. Tom is in the top right corner, I am in the bottom left. Following graduation, we were assigned different squadrons, operating on different aircraft carriers. I did not see Tom again until years later at several annual reunions. We did keep in touch regularly over the years by phone & email. I had spoken to him by phone just a few weeks before his death. I was privileged to be invited by his daughter Austin to the funeral & sit with the family for the meal. I learned many things about Tom I had not known & about which he had not bragged in all those years. Tom was a fine man, gentle in spirit & always in a good mood. It was a pleasure to fly with & know him as a friend. I will miss him. A donation has been made in his name to the F8 Crusader Association.
