Thomas L. Grondine, of
Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Thomas touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness and generous spirit.
Born in Lowell to the late Thomas V. Grondine and Irene (Mineault) Grondine, he is also predeceased by his sister Charlotte and her husband Paul Mahoney, his sister in-law and brother in-law Janice and Donald Golan, his uncle Paul Dumont and in-laws Michael and Beatrice Pierog.
Thomas will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara (Pierog) and his daughter and sons: Susan and her husband Arthur Dauwer of Scituate, Thomas and his wife Ellen Grondine of Westford, Michael Grondine of
Litchfield, NH, and David and his wife Ho-Anh Grondine of Methuen. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Thomas, Catherine, Jessica, Christopher, beloved Emily, Shannon Aikey and her husband Michael, Brian Dauwer and his wife Ashley; as well as 5 great-grandchildren: Lily, James and Ryan Aikey, and Brandon and Gavin Dauwer. In addition he is survived by his brother in-law, John Pierog and his wife Patricia of
Litchfield, NH and their children Stephen, Kristen and Kathleen, his niece Jill (Mahoney) Pelletier, and nephews Daniel and David Golan.
Raised in Dracut, he was a 1958 graduate of Dracut High School where he was co-captain of the football team and was voted "best dancer". There he met his life-long friend(s) Leo "Doc" DiRocco and later his wife Bonnie. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army after high school where he served as a sergeant E-5 in the Missile Battalion.
His decades long career started at the Avco and Raytheon companies, retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing for Leeman Labs. He also owned and operated Mighty-Fine Donuts in Methuen (which his children loved).
Thomas raised his family in Methuen, dedicating his life to them and the community, and was known for his unwavering commitment to helping others. He cherished spending time with family and friends, sharing Dad jokes and wisdom, and was always ready with a helping hand or a story to brighten your day. He loved to entertain family and friends at their
Salisbury, MA beach house. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, yard-sale sale treasure hunting for his collections, and weekly get-togethers with old friends.
Over the years he spent time as a West-End District City Councilor in Methuen and a member of the Greater Lawrence Vocational School Committee. He also served on the Methuen Water Treatment Plant Building Committee.
His legacy of love, integrity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate Thomas's life at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
